It seems as if "since forever" June is the month for marriage.  It is the month that is known for success and luck in marriage and weddings.  

There are a couple of traditions that carry over from the past, of Pagan ways into even very traditional weddings today.  Those are the bride tossing the bouquet and the groom tossing her garter. 

The garter symbolizes with its circle the woman and the flowers are a phallic symbol.  Each signifying to the one who catches it that a man or a woman is coming to them soon.
